What is it? "This Place Matters" is a photo-sharing campaign in which the National Trust for Historic Preservation asks people to post photos of themselves in places that matter (e.g., in front of the Arcade Building . . .) to the National Trust's Flickr group.
They even have signage which can be downloaded and included in your photos. This, from the National Trust's website:
To increase our impact, we're moving the campaign to Flickr, a photo sharing website that allows people to upload their own and browse millions of other people's public pictures. Signing up is easy, click here to get a Yahoo! ID which will allow you to create a Flickr account. It's easy and free. If you already have a Yahoo! ID, log in here and follow the steps to create a Flickr account. If you're already into Flickr, then you're ahead of the game!
First, download our sign, then when you upload a This Place Matters photo, join our This Place Matters photo group and click "add a photo" -- then it will get pulled in to our slideshow!
You can also check out the photos that have already been uploaded here before you commit, but we need your help in spreading the word because the more people we can get involved, the more momentum we have in saving the places that matter to all of us.
Those attending the SAVE RIVERSIDE ARCADE gathering on Wednesday may wish to download a "This Place Matters" sign and make the most of this photo-op. (A nice option for those of us who are not artistically inclined . . .)
